Day 1 – Depart from Wisconsin and travel to your first overnight stop for lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 2 – After breakfast, check out and travel to your second overnight stop to check into your hotel (pack an overnight bag). Dinner is on your own in the area.
Day 3 – Following breakfast, check out and continue traveling into sunny Florida. Upon arrival in Jacksonville, check in to your hotel and prepare for dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 4 – Breakfast this morning, then meet your guide for a tour of Jacksonville. Originally one of the oldest cities in the new world, Jacksonville is one of the largest and most modern to be found anywhere. There will be time for lunch on your own and some shopping at San Marco Square before enjoying a sightseeing cruise along the St. Johns River. After the cruise, return to your hotel to prepare for an evening of dinner and Broadway entertainment at Alhambra Dinner Theater.
Day 5 – After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, depart for historic St. Augustine, one of the oldest continually occupied European settlements in the United States. Meet your guide for a tour of the city to include a perimeter tour of Castillo De San Marcos. There will be some free time on St. George’s Street and in the Spanish Quarter for lunch and shopping. No visit to this area would be complete without a visit to the famous Ponce de Leon’s “Fountain of Youth” where you can even drink from the original well thought to bring immortality. Dinner has been arranged for the group in the area, then return to your hotel
Day 6 – Once again, enjoy breakfast then it’s off for a guided tour of Amelia Island. As you travel north through Fort George Island, a stop will be made at Kingsley Plantation. The plantation house is the oldest still standing in the state, and the remains of the slave quarters are a rare remnant from Antebellum American life. You’ve traveled from the present to colonial, now step into the Victorian Era with a tour of Amelia Island, and the former seaport village of Fernandina Beach. You will also tour, American Beach, a seashore resort founded in the 1930s during Segregation by Abraham Lincoln Lewis, Florida’s first black millionaire and president of the Afro-American Life Insurance Company. American Beach was a community that was visited mostly by African Americans, though all were welcome. There will be time to enjoy lunch on your own in Fernandina Beach, before returning to your hotel to prepare for dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 7 – Enjoy breakfast this morning, then check out and depart for your overnight stop for lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 8 – After breakfast, check out and travel to your last night of lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own in the area this evening.
Day 9 – Following breakfast, check out and depart for home with fond memories of your St. Augustine, Amelia Island & Jacksonville.
