OHIO ISLAND HOPPIN’

Day 1 – An early morning departure takes you west into Sandusky, OH. Upon arrival, you will visit the Merry Go Round Museum where you’ll see the 3 carving styles of carousel animals, rare and unusual carousel animals and also carvers creating new animals. No visit would be complete without a ride on their historic working carousel, then continue to your lodging in the area where you will check in. Dinner will be arranged this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 2 – An early breakfast has you heading for the Sandusky docks to board your ship for a day of Island Hoppin‘ on Lake Erie. During this daytime adventure take in the sounds, aroma, and feel of our Great Lake from the topside deck and enjoy a live personal narration. Along the way see Cedar Point, the top-rated amusement park on the planet, view Johnson’s Island, the Marblehead lighthouse, the oldest operational lighthouse on the Great Lakes. Arriving on Kelleys Island, Lake Erie’s largest American Island, you will enjoy free time to visit the shops and have lunch on your own. Afterwards, you will reboard your ship and set sail for Put–in-Bay on historic South Bass Island. Upon arrival, depart on a tram tour of the Great Lakes’ best kept secret as you tour this historical island. As part of your tour, a stop will be made at Perry’s Cave for a leisurely stroll through the Butterfly House where you can observe up to 40 different species and over 800 butterflies from Costa Rica and Malaysia. Relive automotive history at the Antique Car Museum with displays of Model A’s & Model T’s dating from 1915 to 1931, including the oldest car on the island. You will conclude the tour at Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial, the third largest monument in the United States. There will be some free time in the downtown area before returning to the port for your return trip to the mainland. Your motorcoach and dinner at a local restaurant await, before returning to your hotel for a leisurely evening.

Day 3 – Following breakfast, check out and head for nearby Port Clinton and the African Safari Wildlife Park. Get ready for a wild time by experiencing a drive-thru safari that gives breathtaking views of all the exotic animals roaming their protected habitat. After your visit, depart for home with fond memories of Island Hoppin’ Ohio.
