CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
6 Days – 5 Nights

Day 1 – Your morning departure finds you on your way to your overnight stop for lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own tonight.

Day 2 – Following breakfast, check out and continue traveling to our nation’s capital – Washington, DC. Upon arrival, stop at the Smithsonian Institution where you can grab some lunch on your own at one of the cafeterias and visit the museums of your choice (National Air & Space Museum, National Museum of African Art, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of the American Indian, & National Gallery of Art). After time to see the museums, enjoy dinner followed by check into your hotel in the area.

Day 3 – After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Enjoy this yearly event that features a spectacular parade along Constitution Avenue as part of the celebration of the cherry trees that were gifted to the United States by Tokyo in 1912. Along with the parade there are several free concerts on the mall, lantern lighting, dances and races. Following the parade, meet your guide and depart for Capitol Hill to visit the Capitol Visitor’s Center (CVC), the U.S. Capitol, the U.S. Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court Building. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Capitol Visitor’s Center Cafeteria. Later in the afternoon, stop at the World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and Korean War Veterans Memorial. Then, depart for a dinner at a restaurant in the Washington area. After dinner, you will end your day with a driving tour of the illuminated monuments and buildings, including the Air Force Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Marine Corps Memorial, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington Monument, the White House, and the U.S. Capitol Building, among others.

Day 4 – After breakfast, meet your guide and visit the FDR Memorial and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, which celebrates Dr King’s powerful words and inspiring dream. Stop at the Jefferson Memorial and for a photo opportunity of the Cherry Blossom Trees. Following lunch on your own at Union Station or National Place, depart for the Visitor’s Center of Arlington National where you will meet your guide for a tram ride through the grounds which includes the Tomb of the Unknowns as well as the final resting place for President John F. Kennedy and some of his family members. No land in America is more sacred than this square mile; it is America’s shrine to valor and sacrifice. After your stop, visit the September 11, 2001, Memorial at the Pentagon, a forever remembrance of the horrific events of that sad day in our nation’s history. Once again, dinner has been arranged for you at another popular restaurant in the area, before heading back to your hotel for a restful night.

Day 5 – Following breakfast, check out and depart for a visit to the Smithsonian’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum, located at Dulles Airport. for You will have time to explore the museum at your own pace and get lunch on your own in the area before departing for your last night of lodging (pack an overnight bag); dinner is on your own this evening.

Day 6 – Following breakfast, check out and depart for home with fond memories of your stay in Washington, DC.
